A native of NC, and the product of a military family, I have served the military community as well as civilians in my role as a psychologist and counselor for the past 30 years. I’m the proud spouse of a veteran of the armed forces and have the joy of being parent to four wonderful children, three of whom are also in the military. I’ve worked in many settings (clinics, hospitals, private practice, residential substance abuse, and higher education), performing many kinds of tasks (research, teaching, clinical practice, training and mentoring, program development, management, and education) in addition to involvement in church, community and local government activities.

The values of service and commitment, accountability and responsibility, honor and integrity are central to my personal as well as professional life.

Years ago, as a young professional in clinical training,  I was quite fortunate to intern in a unique mental health setting that incorporated traditional psychiatric medicine, innovative therapies and creative collaboration by a brilliant multidisciplinary staff into producing remarkable outcomes for children, teens and adults seeking relief from mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. It was truly an amazing place in its early days and many hurting people found hope and change there through the dedication of people who cared. The entity known as Mandala Center no longer exists but its legacy remains with me--its emphasis on going the extra mile; striving for excellence; investing deeply in people as they take the often difficult steps to achieve permanent positive change; and, seeking personal growth as well as growth in those we serve. While much has changed in the healthcare field in the past 30 years, what has not changed for me is my desire to utilize the full extent of my experience, training and skills to help my clients reach their personal goals toward health, happiness and whole relationships!

You’ve made an important and courageous move in seeking help—the first step is often the most difficult. I hope that you will allow me the privilege of joining you or your family member for part of your journey as you seek solutions to life’s problems. Where there is life, there is hope--welcome to Wellspring!
